Siberian Taiga Animals and Plants

The Siberian Pine is found all throughout the forests of Siberia. It is found along the rivers of Siberia and is able to collect as much water as needed with its roots, this tree has a vascular system. It is also found in he dry areas where there are more forests fires and near mountains.

The Siberian Elm adapted by having small toothed leaves that only flower in the spring and release the seed during that time so it has a better chance of survival. The Elm developed rough bark and hairless twigs.

The Siberian Spruce is a coniferous tree that allows its branches to be able to bend with the heavy amounts of snow on them and the pine needles allow the snow to not collect as much. the height allows it to get more sunlight and give shade to the other plants and animals around it. 


Siberian Flying Squirrel has adapted by using the largely spruce inhabited forest as its food source and its way of shelter. It uses old woodpecker holes as its home to store food and hibernate. 

Siberian Brown Bear has long dense fur that keeps it warm during the winter and will eat different vegetation and different herbivores as part of its diet. 

Amur Leopard's have adapted to the colder climate of the Taiga by having thick fur to keep them warm during the winter, they are also able to leap ten feet into the air to help catch its prey. 

In the Siberian Taiga deforestation is a huge problem. The Taiga Rescue Network in Russia is banning logging in certain areas of the taiga to preserve the habitats of the animals and the diverse amount of tree's there.
